Biographical Sketch

Akashi Andrew Rurangirwa received his medical degree from the National University of Rwanda, in 2007. Between 2007-2010, he worked as a medical doctor at Ngarama hospital, Rwanda in departments of pediatrics and obstetric and gynecology and at King Faisal Hospital, Kigali in the departments of pediatrics and internal medicine. Subsequently, he did MSc degree in clinical epidemiology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (210-2012). In the first half of 2013, he was the Coordinator of human resource for health program in Rwanda’s Ministry of Health. Since mid 2013 he has been working as a lecturer at the National University of Rwanda, College of Medicine and Health Sciences/School of Public Health and a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Gothenburg.

Research Interests

Dr Akashi Andrew’s research is focused on maternal and child health. His major interest is the determinants of normal and abnormal growth and development during pregnancy, early postnatal period and childhood.
