The Lundberg Laboratory for Diabetes Research was, in part, established with grants from the IngaBritt and Arne Lundbergs Foundation.
The major focus of ongoing research is on pathogenesis and treatment of Type 2 diabetes. Clinical and basic research are integrated to provide comprehensive insights into mechanisms and clinical phenotypes.
Around 20 scientists and technical staff are working in the laboratory. Major external grants, additional to the Lundberg Foundation, are obtained from several sources including The Swedish Research Council, LUA/ALF-grants, The European Community, The Novo Nordisk Foundation, The Torsten Söderbergs Foundation, The Swedish Diabetes Association and the European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes (EFSD). Moreover, from Edgar Sjölund Foundation, Wilhelm and Martina Lundgrens Foundation and Åke Winbergs Foundation.
The laboratory is a part of the Department of Molecular and Clinical Medicine.
