Our research

Within the cardiovascular area we conduct clinical studies, coupled to broad epidemiological research in population health. We have an extensive international network. Unselected and large patient groups facilitate broad clinical studies of common disorders. A profile area is GUCH – grown-up patients with congenital heart disease where a wide range of studies involving highly advanced interventional catheterizations to national registries, quality of life and physical activity. Additionally, we perform studies in acquired heart disease, from acute coronary syndromes to heart failure.

Clinical research is coupled to data from unique Swedish registries. Several researcher groups are active in extensive international networks. Thromboembolism, diabetes, hypertension and pain management are other important areas. Within gastroenterology, research is directed towards inflammatory bowel disease and liver diseases. A recent addition is sleep apnea.
