Today there are 40-50 employees at the Section working with research, teaching and administration and about 10 of them are doctoral students. The Section was founded in the beginning of year 2015 as a merge between the Section of Social Medicine and the Public Health Epidemiology Unit. Before the merge there was already an extensive collaboration between the two units which was hoped for to be developed and extended. The merge resulted in an increased competence in methods, study design and expertise in certain subjects within the public health area. This was seen to benefit the research as well as teaching and the collaboration with the society.
