From prescription to outcomes

Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research is a scientific discipline that deals with the role of medicines among individuals, populations and society.
Pharmaceutical outcomes research covers areas all the way from prescribing to outcomes:
• Prescribing and use of medicines
• Outcomes (effects) of medicine use
• Strategies to improve medicine use in society: drug policies and regulations, and pharmaceutical interventions in pharmacies and health care
• The pharmacy professions and collaboration with other health care practitioners
• Development of research methods in the field

Pharmaceutical outcomes research is multidisciplinary and our research projects use tools from epidemiology, health economics, psychology, philosophy, sociology, and statistics. The research identifies the different actors' perspectives: individual, population, organization and society. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are used.
