Nordic Network for Research on Refugee Children

A Nordic Network for Research on Refugee Children was created at NHV; The Nordic School of Public Health, Göteborg, Sweden. The network has received funding from FAS; Forskningsrådet för arbetsliv och social vetenskap, for the years 2008-2010, to create this network.

The aim is to promote research on health and well being of refugee children in the Nordic countries.
All the Nordic countries are represented in the network and in it’s steering committee. The funding from FAS will enable meetings in the different Nordic countries, and cover travel and accommodation costs for the members of the network.

During the years 2009-2010 there will be two meetings each year (spring, fall) with different topics;

- Assessment/reception
- Psychosocial health
- Longitudes and traumatic experiences
- Resilience and salutogenic arenas

The one’s who have initiated the creation of the network are; professor Anders Hjern (former Socialstyrelsen/NHV, now CHESS at the University of Stockholm), professor Marita Eastmond (GU/NHV) and docent Henry Ascher (former NHV, now The Unit of Social Medicine at the University of Gothenburg).
