Mental health, working life and social security

Mental health problems have become more common in working ages. This leads to increasing knowledge and competence demands in the work life concerning how to avoid sickness absence and how to support persons on sick-leave in the return to work process. There is surprisingly few scientific studies in this area in spite of the high risk of negative consequences for the affected individual, work life and society. Several projects at EPSO aim at developing more knowledge on how work capacity is influenced by common mental disorders and what factors increase the risk of sick-leave and slow return to work. Also, EPSO runs several projects concerning substance use and misuse that are closely related to mental Health problems.
