INNOVATION PROJECTS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

In collaboration with central innovation actors Sahlgrenska School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship engages in several innovation projects. Read more about the projects: Healthcare Inc, Venture Inc, Research Inc and Difference Inc.

The innovation projects take place in the Sahlgrenska School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Accelerator, which is both a physical and virtual environment under GU Ventures that secures confidentiality and secrecy of intellectual assets during the project. The SSIE Accelerator does not claim ownership in the projects it drives, which allows all deliverables to be transferred to our partner organizations to facilitate further development.

Transforming healthcare needs into viable, co-created solution

The platform collaborates with the Sahlgrenska Academy, School of Design and Crafts (HDK), School of Business, Economics, and Law, and Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship, which brings together inter-disciplinary groups of graduate students with legal, engineering, bioscience, medical, business and design backgrounds. The projects partner the students with healthcare professionals for six weeks.

Healthcare Inc. aims to identify and solve healthcare challenges with an interdisciplinary, human-centered approach to innovation, which takes its starting point in the needs of patients, healthcare professionals, and social welfare. The projects seek to understand the fundamental nature of complex, persistent healthcare challenges so as to co-create effective, sustainable solutions together with the healthcare partners that address the real problem.

The project outcomes include new, actionable insights into the needs of patients and professionals, as well as several specific solutions that can be further tested and developed.

Transforming research activities into innovation

In Research Inc. students from Sahlgrenska Academy, Chalmers, and School of Business, Economics, and Law work in interdisciplinary teams with real research projects based at Chalmers, University of Gothenburg, and corporate research labs. The students work closely with the research groups to evaluate their intellectual assets in relation to competing academic and commercial actors and create strategies for successful utilization of their research results.

The project outcomes include an internal and external competitive analysis of the group’s research results, which generates specific insights and actionable strategies to improve both the research direction and the potential for utilization in society.

Research Inc. runs for 10 weeks from October to December.
New projects are identified in March-May.

Transforming technology ventures into growth firms

In particular, a strong focus is put on how to leverage the venture’s intellectual assets and business model from a global perspective.

The project outcomes include an internal and external analysis of the ventures competitive position, which generates key insights and actionable strategic options for commercial growth. Participating ventures benefit from a clearer understanding of potential business threats and opportunities and specific strategies to manage these insights moving forward.

Venture Inc. runs for 10 weeks from October to December.

A platform for social innovation

The students at the master's programme are given the opportunity to work with real entrepreneurs and use the skills and competencies they have acquired through the education for the benefit of entrepreneurs working in relation to social challenges, such as integration, equality and sustainability.

The students gain valuable experience through the project work and an increased understanding of social challenges and how to manage social change from a gras root perspective. This experience and understanding is aiamed to lay a foundation for the students own contribution to social change in their future careers.

One of the projects Difference Inc is currently working with is the business center One Stop Future Shop in Biskopsgården, a suburb of Gothenburg. the center offers support to local entreprneurs with the aim of increasing self-empowerment and decreasing social exclusion and segregation.
